In part I of this article last week, we conversed three components of Jesus’ Missional Living Community™ (MLC™) that moves us from a stagnant group meeting to a thriving community being mobilized to carry out the Great Commission “right where you live, work and play”! Speaking of being commissioned, here are there remaining two inspiring components of Jesus’ Missional Living Community™ that YOU can experience in YOURS:
4. Commission is a vital part of a Missional Loving Community™.
A Missional Living Community™ is always commissioned out to make disciples, intentionally investing among peers “right where they live, work and play”. I coined “Missional Living Community (MLC™)” and my word picture for it is a spring board. Normally, you go to a small group meeting to get more knowledge together and then look forward to the next meeting. But a MLC™ is designed to equip and spring board you back into your calling to make disciples among friends “right where YOU’RE planted”. See how Jesus mobilized the disciples into their God-given calling even before the Great Commission: “And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal. And he said to them, ‘Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not have two tunics. And whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. And wherever they do not receive you, when you leave that town shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them.” And they departed and went through the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere (Luke 9:1-6).” WOW, see how Jesus MOBILIZED and COMMISSIONED the disciples into their calling? What a blessing to be part of an PMC™ that mobilizes one another!
5. Process your missional living with others and grow!
The blessing of sharing with others what God did through your daily missional living throughout the week with friends is RARE today even in the Kingdom of God! Every human longs to share. [tweetable author=”@toddlollar”] One of the keys to my missional living opportunities growing immensely has been processing it with friends. [/tweetable] The blessing comes in through the feedback. You get to hear what motivates others in their intentional disciple-making that you shared but more importantly, you get to hear feedback and wisdom and be encouraged by fresh perspective by others in your missional living. Jesus created a culture of processing among the twelve disciples. See how in result, the disciples gained inspirational insight: “The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!’ And he said to them, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven (Luke 10:17-20)).'” Please notice the joy the disciples gained through processing and the encouragement that came from it.
