We are celebrating the favor God has shown through our strategic partnership with YouVersion! After reaching millions through the “Guided Scripture of the Day,” we have seen a massive shift in our global reach. We are thrilled to see 21,000 followers on our brand-new page; simply search “Mobilize Ministries” in the app to join us. If you follow us now, you’ll be alerted the moment my new 5-day devotional, 5 Keys to Experiencing God in Trauma, is released!
I am also incredibly thankful for my dear friend and former roommate, Michael Miller (founder of UPPERROOM), who wrote the foreword to my upcoming book, Mobilize Your Missional Life, officially releasing on September 1. Michael writes, “Todd names something many of us have quietly felt. There is a growing disconnect between Sunday worship and Monday witness. He calls it missional paralysis.” This book is my heartbeat to empower you to bridge that gap and walk in your calling. If you join us as a monthly partner, you will receive a signed copy of Weak Is The New Strong now and a signed copy of Mobilize Your Missional Life before it even releases! We’ve already welcomed 3 new givers toward our 2026 goal—only 23 to go. Partner with us here.
Does your missional life include a deep pursuit of intimacy with Jesus through prayer? Here are three ways that prayer—as a relationship with the Father—is the ultimate launchpad into Kingdom reality:
1. The Chosen Priority of Relationship
We often think our primary call is to “do” things for God, but divine order begins with being with Him. In the Old Testament, David understood that the presence of God required a specific kind of devotion: “No one is to carry the ark of God but the Levites; for the LORD chose them to carry the ark of God and to minister to Him forever” (1 Chronicles 15:2 NASB). When Michael Miller and I were roommates, his life was a powerful impartation to mine because he would intentionally acknowledge God’s presence and pray throughout the day. I saw the anointing on his life as he treated prayer not as a chore, but as an ongoing conversation. This vertical intimacy is what gives you Jesus’ heart in your horizontal relationships.
2. The “In and Out” Rhythm of Breakthrough
The greatest missional movements in history were born out of a prayer room. In the book of Acts, we see the early church establishing a lifestyle of “In and Out”—going in to the presence of God to be filled, then going out to the world to share Him. Scripture tells us that “as they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them” (Acts 13:2 ASV). This rhythm provides the keys of advancement for your mission. It was only after they had prayed and fasted that they were sent forth to proclaim the Word. When we meet with Jesus first, we experience a spiritual breakthrough that enables us to declare His name to everyone we encounter.
3. Walking in an Ongoing Conversation
Prayer is not a segment of your day; it is the atmosphere of your life. Paul commissions us to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17), which means our missional life should be a continuous dialogue that exposes the Devil’s schemes. Look at Anna the prophetess, who “never left the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers” (Luke 2:37 NASB). Because she lived in a constant state of prayer, she was anointed to speak of the Redeemer to everyone she met. We see this same devotion in the women who followed Jesus even to the cross; Mark tells us that “when He was in Galilee, they used to follow Him and minister to Him” (Mark 15:41 NASB). When you live in a deep, prayerful relationship, you are equipped to resist demonic distractions and walk in the strength of the One you have been dwelling with.
If you want to thrive as a Jesus-shaped influencer, you must start in the secret place of prayer. When you talk to the Father, He provides the impartation of peace you need to reach the world.
How would your day change if you saw prayer as an ongoing conversation rather than a task to complete?
Please share your thoughts in the comments and share this with a friend! We are praying for 23 more partners to join us in this mission. Visit our booking page to inquire about a speaking event, and don’t forget to pre-order the new book as we prepare for the September 1 release!
