Your Christmas Youversion Devotional
3 Ways Christmas Mobilizes Your Missional Life All Year Long
As we approach the final days of 2025, we reflect on the incredible gift of Emmanuel—God with us. This truth is the foundation of everything we do at Mobilize Ministries, and we invite you to join us in this mission by making your best tax-deductible, year-end gift to help us reach our 2025 goal before the December 31st midnight deadline. Your support allows us to continue equipping believers to live missionally in their daily spheres. You can give online at mobilizeministries.com/give.. To go deeper into this theme, I invite you to start my three-day YouVersion devotional: How Christmas Mobilizes Your Missional Life All Year Long.
1. The Presence of Emmanuel Is the Pattern for Our Mission
God mobilized His missional living by becoming among us, showing that the most powerful form of ministry is simply being present. In fact, on earth, as Jesus, He received a name that describes His missional living to you: “Look! A virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will call him, Emmanuel” (Matthew 1:23). Emmanuel means “God with us,” and this extreme measure to be with you is the ultimate expression of His love. Just as God expressed this presence to Abraham and Isaiah when He called them, Jesus expresses this to you as His disciple the day He commissioned you in your missional life: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations… and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20). When we prioritize His presence, we are empowered to replicate that same intentionality with those around us.
2. Being With People Is the Greatest Gift You Can Give
Replicating the life of Jesus means being intentional to meet or “be with” people within your daily spheres of influence. We see this model throughout the Gospels, noting that “the twelve were with Him” (Luke 8:1). This intentional presence is a counter-cultural act in a world that is often distracted and distant. Whether it is a family member, a friend, a coworker, or a stranger the Holy Spirit helps you meet, your willingness to be truly present is a tangible expression of the Gospel. As you walk through your day, remember that “the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (John 1:14). By choosing to be with others, you are offering the best Christmas present possible: a reflection of the God who refused to stay distant from His creation.
3. Your Daily Routine Is Your Primary Mission Field
Christmas teaches us that our mission field isn’t a distant land, but the very places where we live, work, and play.Because God chose to enter our world, we are called to be lights right where we are planted. This quiet, daily faithfulness is how the Kingdom of God expands—one conversation and one act of presence at a time. Jesus reminds us of our identity in this mission: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14). When you are intentional with the people in your sphere, you are living out the reality of the incarnation. This is the essence of a mobilized life: knowing that because God is with you, you can confidently be with others, for “in him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).
What is your next step this week to truly be present with someone the Holy Spirit has placed on your heart? Your presence could be the breakthrough someone else is praying for.
