Make Disciples: Not Just A Great Suggestion

  • by

No time in human history has had as many suggestions as there are in today’s culture. We have a plethora of suggestions to choose from when we type a problem to be solved into Google.  There is such a high need for disciples of Jesus to advance God’s Kingdom.  I wonder if we can find these disciples if we Google, “Where do I find disciples of Christ?” I’m sure we can find a lot of opinions and suggestions.  However, Jesus answers this clearly and His answer is more than just one of thousands of suggestions.  Jesus answers with a command:

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20

“Go therefore and make disciples” is not a mediocre suggestion like we receive thousands of when we type a question into a search engine.  Jesus gives you and me this great mission by commanding, not suggesting, His followers “make disciples”.

“Make disciples ” is not just a suggestion but a command, an overflow of Jesus’ intimate love for us after He died for you and me on the cross!!!  This commandment is the Great Commission!  Why is it so great?! God, Himself, is inviting you and me to join Him in His great mission to help others know Christ and to make Him known…to be disciples and make disciples.

[tweetable author=”@toddlollar”] God has no plan B. His Plan A is you making disciples. Then they do the same.[/tweetable]

  • What is holding you back from making a disciple?
  • Who do you feel led to intentionally meet with to disciple?
  • When are you going to ask your key person to start this journey with you?
